Joshua 24:14(NRSV)
14 “Now therefore revere the LORD, and serve him
in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors
served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.
15 Now if you are unwilling to serve the LORD,
choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served
in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you
are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
1 The
LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He
makes me lie down in green pastures;
he
leads me beside still waters;
3 he
restores my soul.
He
leads me in right paths
for
his name’s sake.
4 Even
though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear
no evil;
for
you are with me;
your
rod and your staff—
they
comfort me.
5 You
prepare a table before me
in the
presence of my enemies;
you
anoint my head with oil;
my cup
overflows.
6 Surely
goodness and mercy shall follow me
all
the days of my life,
and I
shall dwell in the house of the LORD
my
whole life long.
16“For
God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who
believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
17“Indeed,
God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order
that the world might be saved through him.
25Jesus
said to her, “I
am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they
die, will live, 26and
everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Romans
28We
know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are
called according to his purpose.
4Rejoice
in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5Let
your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6Do
not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And
the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8“I
am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
1Then
God spoke all these words:
2I
am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the
house of slavery;
(1) 3you
shall have no other gods before me.
(2) 4You
shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is
in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water
under the earth. 5You
shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the LORD your God am a
jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third
and the fourth generation of those who reject me, 6but
showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and
keep my commandments.
(3) 7You
shall not make wrongful use of the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD
will not acquit anyone who misuses his name.
(4) 8Remember
the sabbath day, and keep it holy. 9Six
days you shall labor and do all your work. 10But
the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; you shall not do any
work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your
livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. 11For
in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in
them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day
and consecrated it.
(5) 12Honor
your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that
the LORD your God is giving you.
(6) 13You
shall not murder.
(7) 14You
shall not commit adultery.
(8) 15You
shall not steal.
(9) 16You
shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
(10) 17You
shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s
wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to
your neighbor.
