Pastor’s Ponderings...

As we read the parables of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew, we are reminded in His talking about the ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ on earth, that we are the ones who must plant the seed, nourish it anyway we can, enjoy watching it grow and participate in the harvest it produces. Waiting, of course, is not easy yet as we watch the plant grow, mature and produce flowers or fruit, we realize that God lives in these plants and enables the seed to grow and produce. We are that seed that God has planted here on earth. We then are called to nourish ourselves with the nourishment that God offers in our lives including the gift of Jesus Christ.

I invite you to think of this growing cycle as part of your life journey. Right now there is a lot of fruit from the plants planted in our gardens - beans, beets, soon tomatoes, potatoes and other vegetables. Enjoy also the plants that provide us with the beauty of flowers. Our moon plant is blossoming right now. The blooms come out in the evening about 8:30 p.m. and last through the night and into early morning. We can watch them come out in the evening and go out several times to enjoy their beauty before the darkness takes the light of day.

Take some time out of your schedule to enjoy watching the flowers blossom. As you enjoy this blossoming, remember how the Kingdom of Heaven blossoms daily in our lives when we plant the seed of love in others.
